WGET adalah salah satu package downloader bawaan dari Linux (sebagian linux sudah memiliki WGET secara default). Sebenarnya WGET merupakan downloader berbasis Command Line Interfaces terbaik, salah satu kekurangannya adalah keterbatasan dari jumlah connection yang sementara ini masih 1 connection, sedangkan rival terberat-nya, Prozilla yang juga downloader berbasis Command Line Interface dapat menggunakan hingga 32 connection. (Namun, kedua downloader tersebut hanya bisa mendownload dari static URL, tidak bisa mengelola dynamic URL).

Tapi dibalik kekurangan itu, WGET dapat mendownload beberapa file dari sebuah file text mini yang berisi link downlod dan WGET juga dapat melakukan mirroring dari beberapa website yang tidak diproteksi oleh CGI (Common Gateway Interface) yang berfungsi untuk menghindari kegiatan mirroring website. Pada bahasan ini , Saya akan membahas bagaimana cara WGET dapat mendownload beberapa file dari sebuah file TXT mini yang berisi beberapa static URL (lihat gambar 1).

Akan sangat menyebalkan apabila Anda harus meng-copy satu per satu link tersebut dan mengetikkan di Terminal Console Anda “wget (URL)” (tanpa tanda kutip) dan menekan enter sehingga WGET mendownload file tersebut hingga selesai dan Anda harus menambahkannya secara manual lagi. WGET memiliki opsi khusus dengan menggunakan opsi tambahan -i (wget -i (input file). Dengan menggunakan “wget -i link” (tanpa tanda kutip), maka Anda sudah bisa meninggalkan komputer Anda dan bermain Frets on Fire dengan tenang. Proses dapat dilihat digambar 2.
